Update 2023-03-16: According to reports from Thursday (16 March), the South African National Defence Force has been placed on stand-by ahead of the strike on Monday (20 March) in the event that violence breaks out. It has been reported that countrywide marches have been organised by the EFF. Several organisations have stated that they will not be participating in the strike, including Santaco, the National Taxi Association, and the Road Freight Association, as well as government bodies. The Golden Arrow Bus Service in Cape Town will also operate normally on Monday (20 March), however Putco buses will not operate.
