2025-07-03: A World War II bomb was discovered on Thursday (3 July) at the highway construction site of the A81 motorway between Böblingen and Sindelfingen in Baden-Württemberg, prompting an evacuation of a 400-metre radius area, including parts of the Mercedes-Benz plant in Sindelfingen. Reportedly, the evacuation is expected to be completed by 10.30 pm (local time). Furthermore, motorway A81 will be closed in both directions, and S-Bahn services on lines S1 and S60, along with regional and long-distance train services between Böblingen, Sindelfingen and Stuttgart-Vaihingen, will be suspended during the defusing operation.
Local traffic disruptions are to be expected. Travellers should follow instructions by security forces.
