Update 2025-07-07 (2): Danas was upgraded to a typhoon on Sunday (6 July) and is expected to get stronger as it moves closely along the west coastline. As a result, strong wind gusts are likely along the western coastal areas, specifically the area south of Hsinchu to Kaohsiung. Strong winds are also expected in Penghu, Tainan, Yunlin and Chiayi. The typhoon has led to significant disruptions, with heavy rain expected in Kaohsiung, Pingtung, and Penghu. Nearly thousands of households lost power, and thousands of people were stranded in Penghu on Monday (7 July) after ferry services, including those to Orchid and Green Islands, were suspended. In addition, China Airlines cancelled a flight to Hong Kong, while several other international flights were also postponed. All domestic flights and high-speed rail services have been cancelled for Monday (7 July).
