2026-01-13: The trade unions FGTB/ABVV and SCS/ACV have called for a countrywide general strike on 31 March. Other major trade unions have already announced that they will not be joining the strike. Blockades of industrial estates are expected as part of the general strike.
Heightened security measures as well as disruptions to traffic and public life are to be expected. Violent clashes between protesters and security forces are possible. Travellers are advised to exercise caution, to strictly avoid demonstrations, road blockades, large gatherings, and deployments of security forces, and to follow instructions from security forces.
