Security forces used water cannons and smoke grenades against the crowd. Multiple protesters were arrested.
Update 2026-01-20 (1): The protests continue on Tuesday (20 January). In addition to Jerusalem and Beit Shemesh, there are also reports of gatherings on Highway 4. Train tracks near the Shivtei Israel stop were blocked. Attacks on buses were reported from the ultra-Orthodox Jewish neighbourhoods of Geula and Yehezkel Street in northern Jerusalem.
