Update 2026-03-05 (5): Early on Thursday morning (5 March, local time in Iraq), the US government denied reports that the US was arming Kurdish ground forces for deployment in Iran. A spokesperson for the Autonomous Republic of Kurdistan also rejected reports that Kurdish fighters from Iraq were already in Iran. At the same time, however, the Jerusalem Post reported that official Israeli and US representatives had confirmed a ground offensive involving several hundred fighters.
Meanwhile, it has become known that only 1 per cent of the internet is currently available nationwide in Iran.

Update 2026-03-05 (4): According to the latest reports on Thursday (5 March), Iran’s air defences shot down an unmanned Israeli drone over Hamedan Province.

Update 2026-03-05 (3): According to the latest reports on Thursday (5 March), the Israel Defense Forces reported launching airstrikes targeting a ballistic missile launcher in Qom and an air defence system in Isfahan. Reportedly, the strikes destroyed the missile platform that was allegedly preparing to launch an attack and were intended to degrade Iran’s defence capabilities. The military also announced the start of a large-scale wave of strikes targeting infrastructure in Tehran.

Update 2026-03-05 (2): According to the latest reports on Thursday (5 March), several explosions were reported in eastern parts of Tehran, with residents hearing loud blasts and shockwaves across the capital. Additional strikes were also reported overnight in the western city of Sanandaj, as well as in Saqqez and Bukan in Kurdistan Province, with air defences activated in response.

Update 2026-03-05 (1): US-affiliated Kurdish militias of the PAK in Iraq announced on Wednesday (4 March) that they were massing troops on the Iraq-Iran border in Sulaymaniyah in order to carry out a possible ground offensive.
