Update 2026-03-18: Travellers in and heading to Indonesia should also note that the Balinese New Year (Nyepi) is celebrated in Bali on Thursday (19 March). On this day, it is forbidden to switch on lights, play music or behave loudly. Public transportation is suspended, stores are closed and people are not allowed to leave their homes. Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) will cease operations from 6 am (local time) for 24 hours on this day. Transit travelers are not allowed to leave the airport during this time.
