2026-08-13: Several fighters were killed while multiple others were injured and several people were missing on Wednesday (12 August) following clashes between Taliban regime fighters and forces loyal to dissident Taliban commander in Nusay District, Badakhshan. The fighting, which began Tuesday afternoon (11 August, local time) continued intermittently in Khogaz, Doabgi, Khanis and Il-Rama. Wi-Fi internet access was also disrupted in several parts of the district, with limited access reportedly remaining in the district centre.
Heightened security measures and operations of security forces are to be expected. Ongoing armed clashes are to be expected. Travellers are advised to exercise high caution, to strictly avoid operations of security forces, and to follow instructions from security forces.
