Update 2021-10-21 (2): On Friday (22 October), a plan was presented by the airline Qantas to offer flights between Sydney and destinations such as Singapore, Bangkok or Johannesburg. New South Wales will be the first state to open up to international travel from 01 November.

Update 2021-10-21 (1): The lockdown in Victoria is to be gradually lifted from Friday (22 October). Initially, private gatherings of up to ten people will be allowed again (outdoors up to 15 people), movement restrictions will be lifted and restaurants and shops will be allowed to reopen under hygiene conditions.
It should still be noted that the planned opening of the borders from November will initially only apply to Australian citizens.
