Belgium, Strike, Level 4: Countrywide general strike on 20 June – Belgium

2022-06-16: The BBTK union has announced a nationwide general strike in local and long-distance public transport and demonstrations for Monday (20 June). According to media reports, disruptions are to be expected in local transport in the capital Brussels as well as on train connections of the transport companies De Lijn and STIB. In addition, there will be disruptions at Brussels Zaventem Airport on Monday (20 June) due to a strike of the employees in passenger handling. Charleroi Airport also warned of disruptions in flight operations on Monday (20 June).
Heightened security measures as well as disruptions to traffic and public life are to be expected. Violent clashes between protesters and security forces are possible. Travellers are advised to exercise caution, to strictly avoid demonstrations, road blockades, large gatherings, and deployments of security forces, and to follow instructions from security forces.
