Update 2023-08-17 (3): According to media reports, residents of Ingraham Trail, in Dettah, and the Kam Lake, Grace Lake and the Engle business district in Yellowknife are at highest risk and should leave as soon as possible.

Update 2023-08-17 (2): Evacuations in Yellowknife are to take place in stages. Initially, residents in the Dettah, Ndilǫ and Ingraham Trail areas are to leave the city by noon on Friday (18 August, local time) at the latest. Residents in the western part of the city are also expected to leave promptly. Authorities emphasize that this is a preventive evacuation and that there is currently no immediate danger. Many airlines offer evacuation flights in cooperation with the authorities.
Update 2023-08-17 (1): According to the sources, an evacuation order was placed on Wednesday (16 August) due to the roaring flames of Yellowknife city’s wildfire, which might reach there by the coming weekend. Reportedly, nearly 1,100 fires were still burning as of Wednesday across the country, including more than 230 in the Northwest Territories.
