2023-08-29: Typhoon Saola has formed over the China Sea, which according to current forecasts will hit Hong Kong on Friday (1 September). Already in the run-up, heavy rainfall is to be expected, as already confirmed in media reports on Tuesday (29 August). This may trigger flooding, flash floods and landslides. Due to increased wind speeds, storm damage is possible in the areas directly affected by the storm.
(Air-)Traffic disruptions are to be expected. Travellers are advised to exercise elevated caution near mountainsides and rivers.
