2024-03-03: A severe storm led to widespread flooding and significant damage on Sunday morning (3 March, local time) in the Corrientes Province, while the Correntino Institute of Water and the Environment recorded heavy rainfall surpassing the Corrientes city’s capacity by nearly four times. Reportedly, the National Meteorological Service (SMN) issued an alert for Corrientes and additional provinces, including Tucumán, Santiago del Estero, Santa Fe, and Chaco, warning of dangerous meteorological phenomena. Moreover, the storm’s impact was severe, with power outages, extensive flooding, and notable damages such as the collapse of part of The Great Mural in the Convent of San Francisco, Córdoba Province.
Traffic disruptions are to be expected, floods and landslides are possible. Travellers should exercise heightened caution, especially near rivers and mountainslopes, and follow instructions by authorities.
