2025-08-06: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) announced a ban on all forms of rallies, processions, sit-ins, and public gatherings across several key areas of Dhaka city, effective from Friday (8 August) until further notice. Restricted zones include the Bangladesh Secretariat and adjacent areas, the Chief Adviser’s official residence and surrounding areas, Hotel Intercontinental Crossing, Kakrail Mosque Crossing, Officers’ Club Crossing, and the area between Minto Road Crossing.
Heightened security measures and operations of security forces are to be expected. Violent clashes between protesters and security forces are possible. Travellers are advised to exercise caution, to strictly avoid demonstrations, road blockades, large gatherings, and deployments of security forces, and to follow instructions from security forces.
