2025-08-27: A Russian airstrike struck the energy system on Wednesday night (27 August, local time), hitting a substation in Sumy Oblast and leaving tens of thousands of consumers temporarily without electricity. Reportedly, a substation in the northern part was hit, and further hits occurred in the Chernihiv, Kharkiv, and Donetsk oblasts. Moreover, in the eastern Ukrainian region of Poltava, the gas transport system was severely damaged. Restoration work is underway.
