Update 2025-10-17: The area affected by evacuations on the east coast of Taiwan was expanded on Friday (17 October): According to media reports, residents and tourists from the Taroko Gorge area (Hualien) were evacuated to safety. There were reports of falling rocks at the Jinheng Tunnel (Central Cross-Island Highway) and in the Liwu Valley.
