Update 2026-06-08 (1): According to the latest information, there is a tsunami warning for parts of the Philippines. Currently, waves between one and three meters are expected in Davao (8:08 am), Cotabuto City (8:10 am), Zamboanga (9:04 am), Maimbung (9:05 am), Legaspi (9:23 am) and Palanan (9:38 am). All times are local.

2026-06-07: A 7.8 M magnitude earthquake struck the 24 km WSW of Burias, Philippines region in a depth of 35 km. There is a high probability that a widespread tsunami has been triggered. Tsunamis of this kind can cause destruction up to thousand kilometres away from its epicentre.
Caution: Multiple tsunami waves could hit the coast hours after the earthquake.
Tsunami Warning Signs: Noticeable quakes, unusual rise or fall in sea level, local media warnings (sirens, light signals, radio, TV, text messages).
Suggested measures in case of signs of a tsunami:
Travellers should immediately leave the coastline.
Travellers should move inland and/or to higher ground (e.g. hills or mountains).
River mouths should be avoided.
It is advised to always follow warnings and instructions of the local authorities.
Higher ground should only be left after an official all-clear signal.
