Canada, Severe Weather, Level 3: Severe weather causes widespread damage and power outages in parts of Quebec and Ontario – Canada

2026-07-03: Severe thunderstorms swept across southern Quebec and parts of southwestern Ontario on Wednesday (1 July) and Thursday (2 July), causing widespread damage and power outages. Strong winds down trees, damaged buildings and power lines, leaving more than 126,000 Hydro-Québec customers and nearly 90,000 Hydro One customers without electricity. Moreover, Environment Canada had issued severe thunderstorm watches and warnings earlier in the day for several regions of southern Quebec.
Traffic disruptions are to be expected, floods and landslides are possible. Travellers should exercise heightened caution, especially near rivers and mountainslopes, and follow instructions by authorities.
