2026-08-12: On Wednesday (12 August) at 4:39 am (local time), at least one person was killed when a fire broke out on a ferry travelling between Bali and Lombok. More than 170 people were safely evacuated, while the search for missing persons continues. The ship, the KM Putri Yasmin, was en route from Padangbai to Lembar. The person killed is believed to be an Indonesian citizen, while at least one Australian was among those rescued; most of the passengers were Indonesian.
