Update 2026-07-03 (2): According to reports from Friday (3 July), a fishing boat ran into a storm and sank off the coast of Quang Ninh, leaving at least one person missing. Vessels were instructed to avoid dangerous areas.

Update 2026-07-03 (1): The tropical cyclone Typhoon Maysak, strengthened over the northwestern East Sea early Thursday (2 July), prompting warnings of strong winds, rough seas, and heavy rainfall across the northern part of the country. Reportedly, the coastal provinces of Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, and Hung Yen are expected to experience strong winds from Friday afternoon (4 July, local time), with sustained wind gusts. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is forecast across the Northeast region and Thanh Hoa Province until Sunday (5 July), increasing the risk of urban flooding, flash floods, and landslides.
