Update 2026-08-28: According to the latest report on Thursday (27 August), authorities evacuated all affected tourists from the flood-hit region following catastrophic flash floods along the China-Nepal border. Reportedly, several people died, and hundreds were evacuated, while the floods severely affected the Gyirong border crossing and port. Authorities also warned that an artificial lake formed by a mudslide near the border faces a high risk of breaching amid continued rainfall, which could send floodwaters downstream and cause further damage around Gyirong Port and other downstream areas.
