Update 2021-07-19 (2): On Monday evening (19 July, local time), the Federal Foreign Office updated its information on Qatar for the second time and pointed out that all passengers would have to download the Qatari corona tracking app “Ehteraz” upon entry and activate it on their smartphones. This requires a Qatari SIM card, internet access and a smartphone with at least Android 6 or IOS 13.5.; Qatari SIM cards and suitable smartphones could be purchased at the airport or at the land border in connection with entry, it added. The activated app would be checked when entering public buildings (such as hotels, malls, museums and restaurants), and high penalties (up to approx. EUR 50,000 and 3 years imprisonment) would have to be expected for violations.
Update 2021-07-19 (1): On Monday (19 July), the Federal Foreign Office published further information on Qatar’s risk classification system (green, yellow and red) and the entry restrictions in force. Among other things, all travellers must present a negative COVID-19 PCR test, no older than 72 hours, and must register their entry electronically at least 12 hours before departure.
