2022-11-15: According to the sources, the Barak Democratic Front (BDF) has scheduled a 12 hour strike on Friday (18 November) from 5 am (local time) to 5 pm (local time) across Barak Valley, Assam, against the discrimination towards the unemployed people in Barak and the ill-treatment of Bengalis in Shillong, Meghalaya.
Heightened security measures as well as disruptions to traffic and public life are to be expected. Violent clashes between protesters and security forces are possible. Travellers are advised to exercise caution, to strictly avoid demonstrations, road blockades, large gatherings, and deployments of security forces, and to follow instructions from security forces.
