Update 2023-09-06: According to reports, junta forces carried out an attack against Pyin Htaung Lay in Katha Township (Sagaing) on Tuesday (6 September). The junta forces also reportedly occupied the village. As a result, around 5,000 residents from several villages of the area ended up fleeing. Reportedly, the junta forces burned dozens of buildings in the village to the ground and have been shelling nearby civilian settlements through Wednesday evening (6 September, local time). According to reports, junta forces have been carrying out airstrikes against villages in Bago since at least Sunday (3 September), leading to at least two civilian deaths and multiple injuries. Thousands of residents also reportedly fled their villages.
