Uruguay, Flood, Level 3: Evacuations due to flood in various northwestern departments – Uruguay

2023-10-30: The National Emergency System (SINAE) reported on Monday (30 October) nearly 2000 people were evacuated due to flooding across various Departments in the country. Reportedly, the flooding was reported in Uruguay and Cuareim Rivers. The Departments such as Artigas, Salto, and Paysandú are mostly affected. As per reports, the flood water decreased in Artigas and Salto, and slightly increased in Paysandú. Additionally, National Administration of Power Plants and Electrical Transmissions (UTE) has reported power outage across the State due to safety concerns.
Local traffic disruptions are to be expected, floods and landslides remain possible in the coming days. Travellers should exercise heightened caution, especially near rivers/the sea and mountainslopes and follow instructions by authorities.
