2024-02-16: Metro service was suspended on Thursday (15 February) at around 1:05 pm (local time) on the blue, orange and silver lines between the Federal Center SW and Stadium-Armory stations because of smoke on the platform at the Eastern Market Metro station in Washington, District of Columbia. Reportedly, an insulator on fire under a railcar in the station was the cause of the smoke which led to the evacuation of many individuals. Additionally, as of 2:05 pm (local time) multiple people were injured following the incident.
Further rail services disruptions are possible. Passengers travelling via the affected metro station are advised to check the current status in advance to their journey.
