Malaysia, Demonstration / Riot, Level 3: Violent attack at a store in Kuching – Sarawak, Malaysia

2024-04-01: A violent attack was reported on Sunday (31 March) at a Malaysian KK Super Mart store chain with a Molotov cocktail in Kuching city, Sarawak State for allegedly hurting religious feelings. Reportedly, the attack caused a fire to boxes of mineral water outside the store. However, no arrests have been made so far.
Heightened security measures and operations of security forces are to be expected. Violent clashes between protesters and security forces are possible. Travellers are advised to exercise caution, to strictly avoid demonstrations, road blockades, large gatherings, and deployments of security forces, and to follow instructions from security forces.
