Update 2024-04-03 (2): At least one person died, while dozens of others were injured on Wednesday (3 April) due to the damages caused by the strong earthquake in the Hualien Province in eastern Taiwan. Reportedly, the death toll is expected to rise. Massive landslides were reported across the province. Taipei Metro suspended services for an hour as a precautionary measure to assess the damages. Due to reports of landslides and a bridge collapse, all highways along the nation’s east coast have been closed.
