Update 2024-05-09 (2): According to sources from Thursday (9 May), dozens of Palestinians were killed and over a hundred were injured in a series of attacks by Israeli warplanes, artillery, and naval forces targeting various areas of the Gaza Strip. Reportedly, homes in the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood in eastern Gaza City were hit, trapping some victims under rubble and making it difficult for ambulances to reach affected areas. Thousands of people were displaced when multiple homes near the Hassan Al-Banna Mosque and the University of Gaza and neighborhoods like Al-Zaytoun, Tal Al-Hawa, and Al-Sabra were targeted. Several people died in a house bombing in Deir al-Balah. Additionally, according to sources from Thursday (9 May) that about 80,000 people had fled Rafah in the three days since Israel intensified military operations in the south Gaza city.
Update 2024-05-09 (1): Israeli military on early Thursday (9 May) carried out heavy shelling targeting Rafah. Furthermore, Israeli military also struck military positions targeting infrastructure and killing terrorists in the Zeitoun area centre of the Gaza Strip.
