2026-08-26: According to reports from Wednesday (26 August), the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) has implemented temporary airspace closures over the capital region. This is due to flight rehearsals for the air parade on Malaysia’s National Day. As a result, flights at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) are subject to partial restrictions. The closure period runs from Wednesday (26 August) through Friday (28 August), from 11 am (local time) to 12 pm (local time) each day. Further closures will follow on Saturday (29 August) and Sunday (30 August).
Further air traffic disruptions are possible. Passengers travelling via the affected airport are advised to contact their airline or tour operator about the current flight status in advance to their journey to the airport.
