Update 2026-08-27: The Bhotekoshi River flash floods resulted in 160 fatalities and swept away settlements, roads, bridges, and power infrastructure in Rasuwa, Dhading, Nuwakot, Gorkha, Tanahun, and Nawalparasi East districts on Wednesday (26 August). Hundreds remain missing, including 403 tourists and 28 security personnel, and 40 people were injured. Three districts have been declared crisis-hit. Authorities confirmed that a glacial collapse and debris flow, not an earthquake, triggered the seismic activity and catastrophic flooding downstream.
