France, Strike, Level 4: Countywide general strikes and transport strikes between 7 and 11 February – France

2023-02-01: According to reports, renewed countrywide general strikes in protest of the proposed change in the age of retirement have been called for 7 February and 11 February. Several railway workers’ unions have also called for strikes on 7 and 8 February for the same reason. These strikes would impact SCNF operations throughout the country. These unions have also stated that if their demands are not met, then they may undertake recurring strikes beginning in mid-February.
Heightened security measures as well as disruptions to traffic and public life are to be expected. Violent clashes between protesters and security forces are possible. Travellers are advised to exercise caution, to strictly avoid demonstrations, road blockades, large gatherings, and deployments of security forces, and to follow instructions from security forces.
