Update 2026-06-25 (2): According to reports from Wednesday (24 June), a state of emergency was declared in the country. Operations at Simón Bolívar International Airport (CCS) in Maiquetía, La Guaira State, were suspended. Reportedly, the airport was closed due to infrastructure damage, resulting in flight cancellations and service disruptions. Copa Airlines cancelled flights between Panama City and Caracas, while Wingo suspended its Bogotá–Caracas service. Rail services were halted.

Update 2026-06-25 (1): According to the latest reports on Wednesday (24 June), earthquakes measuring 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude struck Venezuela at around 6:04 pm (local time), causing buildings, houses, and residential structures to collapse. Power outages, telecommunications disruptions, landslides, road blockages, and structural damage were reported in several areas, trapping people under debris and prompting large-scale rescue operations. Reportedly, the most affected areas are Chacao, San Bernardino, El Paraíso, Lídice, Altamira, Los Palos Grandes, and nearby areas of Caracas, the capital city, as well as La Guaira. Several people reportedly died, and multiple others were injured in Chacao. Authorities also reported infrastructure damage and operational disruptions at Maiquetía International Airport (CCS). The earthquake was also reported across the states of Bolívar, Aragua, Falcón, Anzoátegui, Lara, Táchira, Sucre, Delta Amacuro, Monagas, Miranda, Guárico, Barinas, and Portuguesa. However, authorities warned that high casualties and extensive damage are probable, with preliminary assessments indicating a significant risk of widespread impacts. Residents have been urged to remain outdoors due to the risk of aftershocks as rescue and damage assessment operations continue.
